Shine Bright in 2023

We are already one month into 2023, did you make a plan to for how you can make the most of it and shine bright in the workplace?

Whether you are just starting your career, looking to move up the ladder, or simply want to stay ahead of the competition, there are plenty of ways you can stand out in the workplace in 2023.

One of the most important things you can do is to stay current with the latest trends in your industry. As technology evolves and new ideas emerge, it’s essential to stay up to date on these changes so you can stay ahead of the curve and remain competitive.  Staying informed and educated on the latest trends can help you anticipate and be proactive in responding to changes, which can help you be seen as a leader in your field.  Consider joining local Meet-up or networking groups, find a LinkedIn or Facebook group or even a slack channel where people in similar roles come together to share ideas & resources, ask questions, and sometimes even share job openings!

Speaking of those groups, you know me, I’m a firm believer that you should always take the time to network and build relationships with colleagues and professionals in your field. Although your expertise and hard work will speak for itself, having a strong network of contacts can be incredibly beneficial in the long run, as you can seek out advice, discuss ideas, and learn from each other.   And if you take the time to do it now, you will already have strong relationships in place when you have an “ask” in the future.   Don’t know where to start, connect with former colleagues, classmates, people you have already met along the way but haven’t talked to in awhile.  It’s a friendly face to build that “networking” muscle.

Finally, don’t forget to take care of yourself!  Working hard is essential for success, but it’s also important to take time for yourself and practice self-care.  You can be a high-achiever and a high-performer AND find time to rest and refresh.   You actually can’t do one without the other.   So find ways to stay energized and motivated, such as taking breaks to recharge, setting achievable goals, and taking on projects that you find interesting. When you take care of yourself, you’ll be more productive and energized, which will help you shine bright in the workplace.
